FAQs

What is the cost of the course for my first attempt?  

First Attempt:  This cost has been built into your program tuition.

What if I fail the exam on my first attempt??  

You must return to the main portal page, https://seneca.traincancampus.com and purchase the BASICS.fst® Re-test Review Course. To access the retest purchase page you must log into the site first with your existing PIN and Password. You must complete the Re-test Review course before you can return to write the exam again.   Second and Third attempts can be purchased online only, cost will be $21.95 for BASICS.fst® Re-test Review and $47.00 for the ADVANCED.fst® Re-test Review plus tax per attempt.

What is the passing grade for the final exam?

The passing grade is 74% for BASICS.fst® and 75% for ADVANCED.fst®

How many attempts can I have at the exam?

Three online attempts; after 3rd attempt in class session recommended.

How computer literate do I need to be to take an online course?

Taking an online course is similar to reading a book. You can navigate though the chapters and pages in the same manner simply by clicking where you want to go. Instructions are provided throughout the course, and you can reach out for help via email, telephone or chat.

What if I do not have a credit card?

Prepaid credit cards are available for purchase across Canada. TrainCan accepts payment from these cards.

Is Access Instant?

Yes. Once you have completed the registration process you will receive an email immediately with your log in information. You may want to check your "junk folder" if you do not see it right away.

Can I do the course in more than one sitting?

Yes, absolutely. We encourage you to work at the course at your own pace. The system will remember where you left off and start you there the next time you log in.

Can I use different computers or tablets to access the course?

Yes, this is no problem. You can access your account 24/7 from any computer or tablet that has an Internet connection.

What do I do if my password doesn’t work?

  1. Make sure your Caps Lock button is off, passwords are case sensitive.
  2. If you have logged in before, you would have been asked to change your password. If you have forgotten your new password simply click on the "Forgot my Password?" link on the student log in page and your account info will be emailed to the email address you used when you first signed on.
  3. If you are still unable to log in please contact us using the live chat on the online campus. Our technical support staff will assist you.

How long do I have to finish the course(s) that I have enrolled in?

Your PASSWORD will not expire.  Examinations must be scheduled within 8 weeks of your first log in.
 

Can I fail a course?

Different courses have different requirements.

BASICS.fst® and ADVANCED.fst® require a proctored examination upon completion.  In order to obtain Certification documents you must pass this examination.  Scores  below 74% in BASICS.fst® or below 75% in ADVANCED.fst® will not receive certification.  Retests can be purchased and scheduled through the online campus, or by contacting TrainCan.

WHMIS 2015, HACCP and Respect in the Workplace are courses of completion.  The courses are set up as self paced training courses. Each unit has a testing component which requires you to get a percentage of the test questions correct. If you do not achieve the percentage, you will be asked to review the unit again and then re-challenge the unit test. You cannot move onto a new unit until you have successfully completed the unit test. You cannot fail these courses. You must complete the course to receive a final certificate.
